In collaboration with commercial and government customers, our unique lidar designs provide capabilities in precision navigation instruments to return to the Moon and explore other planetary bodies. Our contributions to our space program include innovation, modeling, development, integration, and testing of terrain relative navigation doppler lidar systems, precision velocimetry, altimetry, hazard detection and avoidance and wind measurement systems to name just a few.
Coherent Applications, Inc. (CAI) is proud to announce that as a subcontractor to Science Systems and Applications, Inc under Science, Technology and Research Support Services III (STARSS III) at NASA Langley Research Center, was selected as the NASA 2020 Office of Small Business Programs Small Business Subcontractor of the Year. CAI is a recognized expert in laser design and development with specific expertise in LIDAR applications. Under STARSS III, CAI supports three technology development areas: Advanced LIDAR Systems, Navigation Doppler Lidar (NDL) Assessment and Wind Lidar Systems.
CAI competed against nominees from the Ames Research Center, Armstrong Flight Research Center, Goddard Space Flight Center, Johnson Space Center, Kennedy Space Center, and Marshall Space Flight Center.
CAI provides engineering and scientific support for the development of advanced laser and lidar systems for autonomous safe landing on solar system bodies and atmospheric measurements. When the COVID-19 pandemic started, laboratory space at CAI facilities was quickly allocated and reconfigured so projects could continue without disruption in a safe and protected environment for the engineering team members. For this reason, CAI was nominated and won this agency-level award.
Congratulations to the entire CAI - SSAI- NASA team!
