Job Description
We're currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to support efforts within the Revolutionary Aviation Technology Branch. This branch develops innovative technologies and methodologies to revolutionize the performance and capabilities of future air vehicles. Aircraft performance has become increasingly dependent on advanced materials technologies. The successful candidate for this role will support research in areas of electromagnetic and deposition sciences, specifically physical vapor deposition onsite at NASA Langley Research Center.
Major Responsibilities
- Physical vapor deposition systems to include: installation and operation, troubleshooting and maintenance, Vacuum systems, and Sputtering.
- Cleanroom operation and maintenance.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to perform electromagnetic measurements on a wide range of materials. Analyze measurement results to identify opportunities to modify material properties and achieve specific performance goals.
- Design, install and operate new instruments and methodologies to perform measurements not achievable with off the shelf equipment.
- Develop, design, and fabricate new processes to produce materials that achieve specified goals.
- Participate in presentations, and meetings.
- Technical reporting.
Requirements
- Recent or soon to be Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
- Demonstrated experience in physical vapor deposition technologies, including system setup and maintenance
- Demonstrated experience in electromagnetics
- Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
- Must be local to or relocate to NASA LaRC to support onsite research.
- Must be a US Citizen who is eligible or holds a Top Secret (TS) clearance.
U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency is required due to facility requirements.
